Party On Outpost
November 18, 2004, 8:30 - midnight
Hosted at a beautiful home on Outpost Drive, this was a celebratory launch party for the organization and after party for Paul Butler's closing reception at MOCA The Geffen Contemporary, Outpost's first program. Founding Members, Paul Butler and participating Collage Party artists mingled and enjoyed DJ Nnambi's (of KPFK's :Afro-Dicia) African and African-influenced dance music.
Founding Membership Soirees
October 20 and October 28, 2004
These small gatherings were hosted by founding member Deanna Cherry and founding members Mike Blockstein and Reanne Estrada to provide occasions for all of Outpost's founding members to meet one another and hear about Outpost's mission and why we had asked for their support.
Yard Sale Social
October 16, 2004, 11 - 4 pm
We chose a yard sale as our first jump into fundraising. Held at the Echo (http://www.attheecho.com/) at 1822 Sunset Blvd around back in their new space, which is big, unfinished, and very cool, we asked friends and colleagues to help us stock our sale with donations of various bric-a-brac and semi-valuables that didn't fit in their lives anymore. People came through in a big way and we filled that space with an amazing assortment of stuff. And whether they knew they were rummaging for a cause or not, people came and bought needed items and new treasures, and listened to board member/DJ Eric Steinman spin records. The nice people at the Echo got the BBQ going and served drinks to keep our customers happy.
