Oswald Achenbach (1827 - 1905) was a great German artist. Even though Oswald is not know by lots of people these days, he was regarded as one of the most famous landscape artist of Europe in his time.  He affected the Kunstakademie Dusseldorf by his educating activities. He had a brother Andreas Achenbach who was also one of the most well-known artists of the nineteenth century.

Oswald was born the 5th of ten kids in Dusseldorf on Feb . 2, 1827. When he was 8 years old, he went to the primary course of the Dusseldorf Art Academy. His famed brother educated Oswald. It is possible that Oswald Achenbach didn't like the academic training, so he left the Dusseldorf Academy in 1841. As an alternative he became a member of two Dusseldorf organizations. In 1845 he  visited Europe including northern Italy for a long time. Oswald Achenbach deveolped his personal art style after in depth research of nature.  Nevertheless, Oswald got financial achievement mainly by 1850 while his oil paintings was displayed by the freshly founded gallery Eduard Schulte, which usually desired to encourage painters and designers that searched for developing separately from the academy.

During this period Oswald Achenbach acquired his very first global achievement. In 1852 he was developed honorary part of the Amsterdam Academy of Art. Oswald was also granted for at Globe Event in Paris in 1855, exactly where he presented a huge collection of paintings. And in 1895 he obtained a gold medal at a Paris Salon. Oswald Achenbach grew to become professor of landscape art at the Art Academy in Dusseldorf In 1863  and  he spent a long time there until 1872. He died in 1905.
