Audubon was born in Saint Domingue on April 26, 1785. His father Lieutenant Jean Audubon was a French sea captain and plantation owner. Hi was raised by his stepmother after the death of his mother. John James Audubon went to the United States in 1803 because of the Napoleonic Wars. He was in business for around 10 years and had some achievements but didn't last long.

John James Audubon plays important role in ornithology and natural history. Many later artworks in this subject were more or less inspired by his artistry and high standards.
