The great painter of Belluno, Italy, Ippolito Caffi, was well-known for his landscape paintings. He explored new techniques in the field, achieving an exceptional style. 

Caffi studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice. He won the vedute prize for his paintings, and then moved to Rome, where he was known for his treatises on perspective. While in Rome, he traveled to Greece, Constantinople, Egypt, Syria, and other countries, and returned to Italy to produce some of his finest works. He also painted the Carnival in Venice.
