Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was born in 1452 in the heart of Europe. He was born outside Vinci, which lies high up on Mount Albano, in the valley of the Arno River, beside Florence which had been a seperate republic and also business center when the artist came into this world. Most likely 15 of his artworks have survived, the few because of the artist's steady, and reguarly disastrous, testing with new skills, and his serious procrastination.
