Two Sisters or On the Terrace is a canvas oil painting by French painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir, the artwork was painted in 1881, it describes a young lady together with her little sister relaxing outside along with a small basket loaded with balls of wool. In the railings of the terrace you can see bushes and also plants along with the River Seine in back of it. Just like the Renoir's another famous painting -The Luncheon of the Boating Party, the artwork was grabbed in the porch of the Maison Fournaise restaurant in Chatou close to Paris, a place where welcomed many different people, who could very well have a good time of sailing pretty exempt from the normal restrictions of public hierarchy. Nevertheless, on this painting the season is Spring and so the shades and colors of the flourishing plant life fire up the peaceful blue from the river plus embark the effervescent colours of these two sisters. The painting was sold to Annie S. Coburn in 1925 and was bequeathed to the Art Institue of Chicago after her death in 1932.
