The paintings he created are considered to be among his most popular and sought-after ones. This collection of works was published in 2009 by the Museum of Modern Art. In addition, the artist's work is included in several private collections.
The artist was born in Haarlem in 1610 and was admitted to the guild of master painters in 1634. He married twice, first in Amsterdam, and later in Rotterdam. He died at the age of 81. He had learned from two exuberant geniuses of 17th-century Dutch painting, Adriaen Brouwer and Jan Vermeer. His paintings are full of genres and realistic scenes.
One of Ostade's most popular paintings is the Interior of a Peasant Hut, which shows farm gear in the dusk. The hut is filled with children, their parents, and farm equipment. This beautiful painting has a charming interior lighting and captures the ambiance of a traditional peasant hut. Throughout his life, Ostade created watercolors and pen-and-ink drawings.
